As the need for improved efficiency rises, healthcare facilities are searching for new ways to provide a high quality service while maintaining low costs. A growing part of this service caters to referring physicians and specialists, who need access to reports and images of their referred patients.

CD-Surf is a soft copy printer for images on a self-playing CD. This provides a soft copy of the image study on CD-ROM to be given to the patient along with a paper report. The patient will take this to the referring physician. Alternatively, the CD-ROM can be sent directly to the physician. The referring physician can read the case on any PC with a standard Web browser. Radiology reports (with key images) can also be burnt onto the CD-ROM if the necessary interfaces to the RIS are in place (this option requires MediLink). Extremely cost effective, CD-Surf eliminates the need for patients to handle their own films. Instant CDs can be created and handled without fear of ruining data.
