Algotec to Supply Supplemental Software
Technology
For Kodak’s Picture Archiving and Communications Systems

Duluth, GA., May 31, 2002 – Algotec, a technology leader in imaging information management, will supply supplemental software technology to Eastman Kodak Company’s Health Imaging division, which will accelerate Kodak’s timetable for expanding the functionality of current and future picture-archiving-and-communications systems (PACS).  Such systems are used in medical facilities’ radiology departments.

Algotec will make available to Kodak a suite of innovative software technologies for integration into Kodak PACS products.  Kodak will perform the integration work, commercialize and manufacture the resulting PACS products, and provide post-sales service and support to customers.

PACS enable radiology departments to manage and store large volumes of medical images (such as x-rays, CT scans and MRI images) and accompanying information. Equally important, these systems make it possible to send medical images from one destination to another electronically – via phone lines or the Internet – thus facilitating communications between radiologists and referring physicians.

“Algotec is proud to have the opportunity to work with Kodak to expand its commitment to PACS and strengthen its position as a technology and market leader,” said Menashe Benjamin, President and CEO of Algotec.

“The supplemental technology from Algotec will help speed our time to market with enhancements for our existing PACS products and will enable us to spawn new products that offer the added features and functionality medical facilities seek,” said Linda S. Becker, General Manager, Digital Solutions Business, and Vice President of Kodak’s Health Imaging Division.  “This development is a key step on our path to respond to customer needs – a step that also positions us to augment our growth and success.”

Since 1993, Algotec has been a recognized technology leader in the arena of medical imaging information management, processing, teleradiology and PACS.   In fact, Algotec was the first company to receive FDA clearance for a Web-based PACS viewer, and its products are used in more than 1,000 healthcare institutions worldwide.
