Foundation Rothschild Selects Algotec PACS

Duluth, GA, April 24--Fondation Rothschild, the internationally renowned hospital specializing in surgery of the head and neck in Paris, France, has selected Algotec, the innovative PACS and image management and processing company, to supply a comprehensive Web-based PACS and teleradiology solution for communications both inside and outside the hospital.
“Algotec provided us with a technologically advanced, open system that will meet our needs today and grow with us,” said Cristiane Lawrisz, Foundation Rothschild general director. “We are migrating rapidly towards a total filmless environment. As we move towards that goal, our PACS will offer the scalability and connectivity for integrating new equipment we decide to add in the future.”

Fondation Rothschild is a 175 bed hospital, that treats approximately 350,000 inpatients and outpatients a year. Currently, Rothschild’s Algotec PACS connects with a Philips MRI, a Marconi CT, two CRs, an Ultrasound and an Ophthalmology modality – Visual Light. Additional Ultrasound machines will be connected in the near future. Algotec’s MediSurf provides Web-based image access over the hospital intranet and access to images over the Internet for referring physicians and doctors at home.

An HL7 interface currently being installed will provide connectivity with the hospital’s Agfa radiology information system (RIS). Primary reading takes place in radiology on MediPrime reading workstations, while off-the-shelf PCs connected to the intranet display images throughout the hospital.

“Algotec offered us a very cost effective, advanced system, and installed it in record time without interfering with the hospital’s daily work,” said Lawrisz. “We looked at a wide range of vendors, including major equipment manufacturers and feel we made the right choice.”
Since 1993, Algotec has been a recognized leader in the medical imaging information management, processing, teleradiology and PACS arena. In 1997, Algotec was the first company to receive FDA clearance for Web-based PACS viewer.

With headquarters in Israel and marketing and sales subsidiaries in the U.S., France and Germany, the company's products are used in more than 1,000 healthcare institutions worldwide.
